Eddie

Eddie
Eddie is a German Terrier who is adoptable to the right person, an individual with a lot of dog experience and training know-how. He has abundant energy that needs to be applied in a positive direction. He will require a secured, fenced yard and a home with no other pets, as he is unpredictable with other dogs. He can also be unpredictable with strangers. Eddie is between 6 1/2 and 7 years old and came from a high-kill, out-of-state shelter. He has been treated for heart-worm disease and is clear to be adopted.

Geena - IN FOSTER HOME

Geena - IN FOSTER HOME
Geena is protective, and she also has a defined preference for females. Geena came to us as an out-of-state stray. She is strong-minded, but young and malleable. Very fun-oriented, she has cute antics and is delightful to watch. Geena is an attractive dog, with very nice markings. The best placement for her will be in a household where she will largely be with the person or persons familiar to her -- not a lot of "stranger-traffic" and no children. UPDATE: Geena is currently being fostered and is receiving training and special attention from her foster mom!

Henry

Henry
Our "Mr. Personality," Henry is extremely friendly, loves people of all sorts and sizes, as well as other dogs. He is a fellow who will do great in a home with another dog (or two) and/or kids. Henry was picked up as a skinny stray -- along with his sister -- at the trailhead of Chaco Canyon. He will be ready to go to his new home very soon!

Ladybug

Ladybug
Ladybug is an incredibly fun-loving and cool dog. She does play too rough with cats and has developed a habit of jumping up that we're working with, but is, in general, a sweetheart. Ladybug is one year old and an owner-surrender (no fault of her own). She is good on-leash and obedient off-leash, with owner present. Believe it or not, this girl's dam was a Catahoula! While, she didn't take after Mom, we're assuming from her build that the sire may have been a Whippet. Ladybug is fully up-to-date on all vet-care and eager to set up house with a person or family of her own!

Luke

Luke
Luke is 1 year old and is receiving socialization and training. He is dog- and kid-friendly, but has recently shown some fear with men. Applied behavioral training and gentle handling have proven to be very successful with him. While a bit on the submissive side, this, too, is responding well to training. We have recently discovered that Luke has a hip-socket issue, which will require medical intervention. We are looking into treatment options and funding, at present.

Micah

Micah
This little girl is a 3 year old Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix. Her breed blend equates to a nice combination of qualities, and she is an attractive little dog. Micah enjoys playtime with people. She is a little hand-shy, but loves cuddling and affection. She is blond with white markings and weighs around 10 to 12 pounds. Her body is built like an Italian Greyhound, so Micah is leggy and slender. She is crate-trained and has been using pee-pads, but will need focus on house-training. Micah is good with children.

Ringo

Ringo
This is one great puppy! Ringo is 6 months old and really good with other dogs, including small breeds. He is a happy and intelligent kid, and it's likely that he is house trained. He came from Tijuana and has been in foster-care until recently. All vet-work has been done. Ringo is believed to be a Doberman/Shepherd or Border Collie cross.

Swayze

Swayze
Swayze has a "complex personality" -- He gets very attached to "his" people, LOVES playing with kids and is fun to watch as he entertains himself with his jolly ball and tries to get the attention of visitors with his squeaky toys. He's also good with other dogs. Meanwhile, when bonded with core people, he can become protective of his family and their space and can act suspicious and guarded where strangers are concerned. He would only be a candidate for adoption to the right person: someone who is very dog-savvy and would offer consistent and appropriate training and guidance around Swayze's guarding behaviors. The ideal setting would be a low-bustle, predictable living situation, with few comings and goings of non-core people. Swayze is around 7 years old. UPDATE: Swayze was recently diagnosed with Pemphigus Erythematosus.

Tatum

Tatum
Tatum is still looking for her life-time person. She is a "tom-boy," not into holding and petting, but a good watch-dog and a fun-loving companion. Tatum is a little ginger-colored girl, who was picked up as a stray, scared and alone. She is at a stable weight and in good form, after her time of having to scrounge for food and hide from dangers. Due to unknown experiences, she came into our shelter skittish/nervous and has made some headway in that area. Still, she will need a patient and loving handler -- someone with whom she can develop trust, who can accept her for her good qualities and not require a lap-dog. She is best suited for a quiet living situation, a household with no children. "Tater" is a part of a "pack" of small dogs out here, loves her pals and playtime and would most likely do quite well with another small household dog. She is probably 6 years old, around 5 to 6 pounds and infinitely cute!!

Thor

Thor
Thor is just over a year old and is very innocent and puppy-like; in part, due to limited exposure to the big broad world...exposure that is so necessary for a healthy, active dog. He was locked in a small outdoor kennel for much of his first year. More recently he developed a good friendship with another Husky, but her death has left him without a playmate. Thor needs an active, engaged and present owner, who has plenty of time for him. He is pure white, with one blue eye and one brown, a long, slender body and a fairly pronounced underbite. He will have his vet check and all updating procedures done soon.
