Breezy

Breezy
Breezy bonds quickly and securely and seems to choose one individual as the focus of his world. He has a sweet nature and a delicate build. His coat is very light and short, so sunning will need to be minimized. At 8 months old, Breezy has little experience with the basics of house-training, so will require a strict schedule and patient but "dogged" guidance. Still, he is an adorable, very small boy who is hoping for that special someone to come along and do a walk through life with him!

Nini

Nini
This precious little one is a happy, personable, enthusiastic being, despite her difficulties up to now. Nini (formerly labeled Theresa) is truly ready for some sweetness in life, having been seized from a hoarding situation along with several others who found their way to Annie's Orphans. Like the other dogs, she was malnourished and so matted that her coat had to be shaved down. She was also treated for bilateral ear infection. It's believed that Nini was kept crated for much of her life which, with poor nutritional status, contributed to little muscle mass. Upon arrival, she used her rear, right leg very little and seemed unable to support much weight on it. The professional belief was that she had patellar subluxation. However, with a few weeks of good nutrition and increased ability to exercise, she has made a remarkable turnaround. She is now exhibiting boundless energy and is using all fours smoothly with very little favoring noticed, and that being sporadic. We are looking for the perfect lifetime companion(s) for Nini. She is attentive and loves people and enjoys being given love and attention. She also likes dogs, but is a dominant girl with a high play need and is food-protective with other dogs (probably a result of having to vie for meals). A home without small children is being sought, since Nini weighs less than 7 pounds and has a delicate frame. She is believed to be 1 1/2 years old.

Adopt a senior - Swayze

Adopt a senior - Swayze
Swayze has a "complex personality" -- He gets very attached to "his" people, LOVES playing with kids and is fun to watch as he entertains himself with his jolly ball and tries to get the attention of visitors with his squeaky toys. He's also good with other dogs. Meanwhile, when bonded with core people, he can become protective of his family and their space and can act suspicious and guarded where strangers are concerned. He would only be a candidate for adoption to the right person: someone who is very dog-savvy and would offer consistent and appropriate training and guidance around Swayze's guarding behaviors.  The ideal setting would be a low-bustle, predictable living situation, with few comings and goings of non-core people.  Swayze is around 8 years old. UPDATE: Swayze was recently diagnosed with Pemphigus Erythematosus.

Sampson

Sampson
Sampson is a cute and wonderful boy who needs a little more confidence to overcome his shyness. He has, however, made lots of progress. He is great with other dogs and is always ready to play. Sampson is good on leash and is learning his commands well. He just needs a stable family to show him that not all people are mean and nasty. He is 3 years old. A fenced yard will be an absolute necessity. Email your inquiry and come see this active boy play!

Toto

Toto
This senior Chiweenie will need a special home. He is overweight and needs gentle exercise on a regular basis. Toto is good with other dogs and loves lap-time. He would like a female caregiver, as he is not very good with men. A home without small children is also needed. He is between 10 and 11 years old.

Polly

Polly
This girl is SOOO cute! Polly was found as a stray, living with her sister and another small dog under a dumpster and managing to subsist on scraps from a nearby restaurant. She is crate-trained, and her sister proved to be house-trained upon placement, so there's that possibility for Polly as well; however, since we've never put that to the test, it is not a certainty. She is 2 years old or under and weighs 10 lbs. Because of her life experiences, she came to us very shy, but is getting more comfortable daily. While she warms up sweetly in someone's arms, she is still difficult to catch and is not yet at ease on leash. She is a healthy-looking weight, fully vaccinated and spayed and is patiently waiting for her new life-companion to visit!

Tyson

Tyson
Tyson is a German Terrier, with true-to-breed traits. He is very adoptable and likes kids -- but needs to be the only dog on the home-front, as he is aggressive with most dogs (a few exceptions apply). He will need a job and ample exercise, as well as a secure yard. Tyson is between 7 1/2 and 8 years old and came from a high-kill, out-of-state shelter.

Eddie

Eddie
Eddie is a German Terrier who is adoptable to the right person -- an individual with a lot of dog experience and training know-how. He has abundant energy that needs to be applied in a positive direction. He will require a secured, fenced yard and a home with no other pets, as he is unpredictable with other dogs. He can also be unpredictable with strangers. Eddie is between 7 1/2 and 8 years old and came from a high-kill, out-of-state shelter. He has been treated for heart-worm disease and is clear to be adopted.

Sam

Sam
Sam is a large, ginger-colored, 9 year old, full-bred Chihuahua boy. He and his doggy friend needed placement when their aging companions moved into assisted living, and Annie's was called, since the family hoped to avoid any risk that the beloved pets might be euthanized. While a tad stand-offish initially with strangers, Sam gets very attached to "his person," is quite friendly/sweet and listens well.  Since his arrival here, he has slimmed down and his coat has taken on a healthy sheen.  While he has lived for years as a housetrained pet, Sam may need a "refresher course" on the subject following adoption.  He will be happiest placed in a home with a gentle, small, female dog, since he loves playing the role of "big brother." Sam is microchipped.

Wolfie

Wolfie
Wolfie was born at Annie's Orphans, to a pregnant mother who was accepted from an out-of-state shelter prior to being euthanized. He was adopted out as a baby along with his sister Bailey. He is 6 years old and was returned within the first year of his life for joint (with his sister) aggression toward another household pet. Additionally, Wolfie develops a strong bond with a person and has shown protective/guarding behaviors when other people approach the primary individual. Adoption is a possibility to only the right individual who has knowledge of the breed and of handling challenging behaviors in dogs.  The necessary living arrangement would include a quiet setting with a solo person.
