Adopt a Senior - Toto

Adopt a Senior - Toto
This senior Chiweenie will need a special home. He is overweight and needs gentle exercise on a regular basis. Toto is good with other dogs and loves lap-time. He would like a female caregiver, as he is not very good with men. A home without small children is also needed. He is between 12 and 13 years old.

ADOPT A SENIOR - Traveler

ADOPT A SENIOR - Traveler
Traveler has been waiting for "a person of his own" for a very long time. He has lived his entire life at Annie's Orphans, having been found as a stray with his mother when he was about 5 weeks old. They were both starving and close to freezing on the 5 degree morning of their rescue. As a quiet boy, he has been repeatedly overlooked. Traveler is a shy fellow and takes time to warm up, but is able to bond. He is good with most dogs. His preferred placement is a calm, quiet environment with no children. Traveler is on the small side of medium and is 11 years old. He experiences arthritis in a front foot and a history of rebounding extremely well after the removal of a tumor from his tongue a couple of years ago.

Adopt a Senior - Seager

Adopt a Senior - Seager
Seager came to us as a stray from Towaoc. He has been a part of our sanctuary and is, now, considered adoptable. He is, however, a shy guy and panics easily, leading him to be a flight-risk in certain circumstances; therefore, he will need handling in keeping with that -- meaning, a secure yard and excursions only on harness/leash. Seager is around 8 years old.

Titus

Titus
Titus is probably a Guardian Breed mix, possibly Akbash. He is up to date on all shots and neutered. Titus will need an active individual, who will join with him in hiking, walking, jogging, etc. He seems to like kids, judging from his actions out here. Titus is the type of dog who will be protective of the home-front; we are currently engaged in behavioral assessment of him and adoptable-status will be based on that.

Adopt a Senior - Andy

Adopt a Senior - Andy
Andy is another of our fabulous Carolina Dog mixes and is sooo cute, with his huge ears and his lighter-colored mask! Andy came to us from an out-of-state shelter via foster-care. He is a bit shy, but enjoys solid bonds with people. Andy is around 8 years old, and has had house-training in the past, but will need a refresher-course upon adoption. Contact us about this special boy!

Adopt a Senior: Peanut

Adopt a Senior: Peanut
Peanut has had an interesting history with our shelter, in that -- after 3 adoptions -- she keeps coming back to be with us. She is, without question, an absolute favorite here...with staff, volunteers and visitors. This girl is smart, attentive, friendly, ready to entertain...just a happy, engaging girl. She will be an exceptional companion in the right home: This means a household with no other dogs, no cats and no small children. Even though Peanut is 9 years old, she is still full of energy and will need a secure fence. What we have found through rehoming efforts with her is: 1) while she has been tolerant of dogs in a social sphere, Peanut will not share a home with them; 2) now that she is older, her patience for young children has flown and she will not be adopted out to a household with small children or where little kids frequently visit; 3) Peanut will require leashed activity and a secure fence. Having said all that, Peanut is a superb dog for an individual or couple who can offer her the amazing companionship that she can gift back. Call us about this gorgeous, fit and healthy girl !!

Adopt a Senior: Annie

Adopt a Senior: Annie
Annie recently lost her adoptive family; then, went to stay in a temporary setting, where she was jumped by the resident dog. She is looking for a peaceful, loving home, where she can enjoy being secure and adored! Annie is a sweet girl and loves her walks. She is between 8 and 9 years old and was trained to a doggy door, but will probably need a refresher course.

Adopt a Senior - Squirt

Adopt a Senior - Squirt
Squirt recently lost her adoptive family; then, while in temporary placement in another home before coming here, was attacked by the resident dog. So, she is shy and unsure, at this point. She is around 8 or 9. She was trained to a doggy-door. Squirt will need tender, patient handling and will probably do best in a low-key home with a single, mature adult or couple.

Murdock

Murdock
This happy little boy is representative of Annie's Orphans' dedication to the foundations that "LIFE MATTERS" and "EVERYONE DESERVES A FAIR CHANCE." This young Carolina Dog mix and his brother were transferred to us a mere two-hours before their brief lives were scheduled to come to an end. Little is known about their back-story, but they were picked up as strays with evidence of physical trauma -- presumably from abuse. The outcome of that, for Murdock, is what appears to be trauma-related brain-injury, with resulting developmental delays and visual "miswiring." Murdock is now one year old and, steadily, as the months pass, we see him evolving, with clear signs of incremental improvement [ex: increased visual tracking ability and less time "watching airplanes" that don't exist (not to us, at least)]! Despite his life-challenges and tough breaks, Murdock is one of the most innocent and happiest beings on earth, which says much about him! He would be best suited for a home that has plenty of love to give and can both accommodate his differences and support his potential. We have reason to believe that Murdock will blossom -- given a supportive environment, with exposure to standard doggy life-tasks, as well as graduated introduction to all types of stimulation. In return, this fellow will delight you daily with his unwavering optimism, his cute antics and his absolute lovability!

Charlie2

Charlie2
Charlie is a Carolina Dog from Tijuana. He is a very handsome young fellow, approximately two years of age, with nice coloring and ears sized for function! He is good with dogs and children, but not with cats. Charlie is good-natured and active. He would likely be fantastic in agility classes. Potential adopters will need to have a secure yard. Charlie also will need more training on leash.
